The Flying Horse Schoolhouse is a unique daycare that integrates principles from the Montessori methodology, loose parts play, and discovery-based learning. Ultimately, we believe that the children should be the stewards of their own learning. As such, the children’s interests guide the development of our curriculum, and our educators are there to facilitate and scaffold meaningful learning experiences.
Unique daycare
We recognize that selecting a daycare is an important decision that reflects one’s personal values. As such, we try our best to honour one’s values, by creating an environment that encompasses each participating family’s perspectives, interests and culture.
Selecting a daycare
We enact this style of teaching by maintaining an open, clean and dynamic classroom setting, integrating new and open-ended educational manipulatives and toys, and by incorporating the children’s input in every aspect of the daycare. We believe the exposure to responsibility, freedom and independence not only intrinsically motivates our students, but also allows them to better understand themselves and the world around them.
Style of teaching
We take parent input very seriously, and also encourage active involvement in our classroom. We believe that a close relationship between parent and care-giver allows for a steady and consistent separation process for children to develop secure attachments.
We take the time each day to update parents on how their child is growing and developing.
